Under the ideology of Hon. Justice K. S. Hegde, founder of Nitte Education Trust who envisioned “Education, Employment and Health has a crucial role in shaping the living conditions of the people especially the rural population”, Nitte University has established 18 satellite outreach health centresmost of which are focussed on comprehensive rural health projects and provide both medical and dental clinical services including their specialty services.
These centres and communities are located in five districts in two states of Karnataka & Kerala. These outreach extensions have reached population profiles of diverse economy, cultural and social development including geographic locations from west-costal fishermen to Western-Ghat tribal populations.
The Satellite health centers in rural areas has been established with an objective of participation of faculty, postgraduate students, interns and graduating students along with paradental staff to provide primary to specialty oral and dental health care services to the rural people who are not aware and do not have accessibility and availability and definitely cannot afford the specialized treatment. This is considered to be a “Model” for the National or International Health Care System wherein a private medical educational institution has established a counter part for public health system with added specialist services at the doorstep of rural population.
Nitte Health Care to offer Free Chest Pain Clinic in Nitte and Bailur Villages
With an aim to save lives of economically backward classes from cardiovascular diseases, Nitte Health Care through its rural healthcare initiative has installed Rural Chest Pain Clinic in Nitte and Bailur villages in Udupi district.
